"Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."

La Fête du Canada!

formerly Dominion Day ( Le Jour de la Confédération), is Canada’s national day, the federal holiday commemorating the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada.

The birth of a Canadian national identity was a protracted and lengthy process! Indeed the Canadian Constitution was enacted formerly by Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada brought the act into effect with a proclamation she signed in Ottawa on April 17, 1982. The date Canada became fully independent from The United Kingdom in all legal aspects.
